Job Description:

Position Overview This key position formulates and organizes engineering projects and maintains all project plans in line with the company's NPD Gate Process. The Sr. Project Manager leads and coordinates a cross-functional team including Mechanical, Electrical, and Software Engineers, Marketing, Industrial Design, Manufacturing, Service, Quality, and Sourcing partners for planning and executing projects for successful factory integration and launches on time and within budget.
Responsibilities:

  • Coordinates specific phases or aspects of a project with project personnel, such as technical feasibility studies, product design, preparation of specifications, technical plans, and product testing, following internal and external engineering disciplines
  • Develop and communicate milestones, project schedules, and status updates. Drive alignment across the organization and between teams
  • Understands engineering issues and drive them to closure by bringing together key partners for decision-making
  • Coordinate with teams to identify, prioritize and track risks to schedule and product quality
  • Coordinates and maintains quality assurance while minimizing possible risks on the project
  • Oversees review of product design for compliance with engineering principles, organization standards, and related specifications
  • Ensures that all the documents needed for a project are complete and prepared per NPD Gate Stages
  • Tracks and reviews the status of each team member, anticipates problems and forms remediation plans before the project suffers. Addresses all the issues that need immediate action and attention
  • Coordinates activities concerned with technical developments, scheduling, and resolving engineering design and test problems
  • Create bills of material, detailed instructions for manufacturing, packaging specifications, and external supplier specifications to ensure delivery of quality parts
  • Manages and communicates design changes, final specifications, and drawing releases
  • Controls expenditures within the limitations of the project budget
  • Grasp complex technical topics and abstract key issues and risks into an actionable form for executive management
  • Prepares and presents high-level project status reports monthly to the executive team. Addresses financial management, leadership, and innovation development. Runs team and other weekly project meetings
  • Looks for ways to improve the process continually. Maintains good communication within the team and with other disciplines involved in the project
    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
    • Strong ability in Project Management, PowerPoint, Excel, Word, and SolidWorks,
    • Strong Product Development abilities, able to grasp technical concepts
    • Strong ability to multitask, organize and prioritize
    • Strong sense of urgency and passion for hitting goals
    • Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills
    • Strong attention to detail and follow-up
    • Experience with FMEA Process and NPD Gate Process
    • Proven leadership in the successful, on-time delivery of multiple products
    • Self-starter with a high level of enthusiasm, professionalism, integrity, and ability to work independently
    • Must be able to work occasional overtime as needed
    • High level of accuracy
    • Creative problem solver
      Workplace Conditions: The employee frequently is required to sit for long periods of time. The employee will frequently use a computer keyboard, mouse, telephone. May occasionally lift and/or move up to 45 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and viewing a computer screen. Exposures encountered, such as hazardous materials, loud noise, or extreme heat/cold. Travel will be required once a week to visit our Tijuana location.
