Who we are looking for:
We are currently looking for a Lean Distribution Manager to be
based out of Chino, CA. Reporting to the RDC Director of Support.
This position will be responsible for creation, maintenance,
implementing, and auditing all distribution level standard work.
This position will coordinate all efforts to remain in alignment
with our Atkore Business System team processes and events.
What you'll do:
- In coordination with our Atkore Business System group and other
Lean Distribution Leaders, manage, train, and guide the assigned
Regional RDC Leadership and Hourly teams on our planned Lean
transformational journey.
- Using the 4C's of communication, become a Champion for Lean and
Standard Work.
- Using Atkore best practices and forms, create standard work for
all RDC operational tasks including, but not limited to, receiving,
fulfillment, inventory control, quality, and transportation. This
task will include both exempt and non-exempt team members.
- Construct, implement and manage scored Atkore Standard Work
Audit to be used to validate site process compliance, including
conducting audits.
- Coordinate activities to support ABS activities for process
improvement or breakthrough changes.
- Create structure for handling Standard Work via a controlled
document process.
- Train existing Atkore team members in the proper use and
deployment of Standard Work and Lean for front line team
members.
- Identify waste opportunities and remove them from the standard
work and daily task list.
What you'll bring:
- Bachelor's degree, or above, in business
administration.
- Experience in lean distribution or within a business
system-based company is requirement, preferably with a Black Belt
Certification.
- A track record of being a change agent within an
organization.
- 3-5 years' experience managing and implementing standard work,
distribution center environment is preferred.
- A high degree of engagement and ability to train both existing
staff and new hires regarding Lean practices and all standard work
content.
- 3-5 years' experience working in a facility that uses Labor
Management software and Engineered Labor Standards. Background in
actual deployment of Labor Management is a strong plus.
- Ability to check and challenge the status quo while in pursuit
of breakthrough results.
- A passion for getting your hands dirty and engaging with the
front-line team.
- Comfortable working with a team that is focused on achieving a
comprehensive transformational vision for the Atkore distribution
network.
Within 3 months, you'll:
- Have constructed an executable plan for construction, revision,
and deployment of standard work based on a need pareto.
- Have a detailed plan for training and implementing Lean
throughout the assigned region.
- Developed a controlled document plan for managing completed
standard work.
- Become familiar with existing distribution center operational
practices, documentation, and controls, including software
capabilities.
- Understand the training needs of existing staff.
Within 6 months, you'll:
- Have completed standard work for all direct labor functions in
the distribution centers and deployed to front line team
members.
- Have performed your first Lean site baseline audits and have
engaged with the team on any Lean training requirements.
- Constructed Day in the Life Of (DILO's) for all supervisor
positions detailing hour by hour shift duties throughout a normal
shift, including necessary standard work.
- Have completed a draft of a new on-site scored Standard Work
audit to validate compliance by local team members to updated
Standard Work and exception tasks.
Within 12 months, you'll:
- Have performed at least one scored Standard Work audit at each
RDC in assigned region.
- Complete standard work for all direct and indirect job
functions in the distribution center.
- Work in tandem with our ABS team, leverage Labor Management
reporting to identify task specific improvements and develop task
related enhancements to address the opportunities that were
identified via process, software, or automation
modifications.
- Have achieved the targeted Lean Audit Scores as identified
during the initial Lean audit process.
