Lead Engineer - COD and Process Excellence 1. This position is accountable for driving the execution of “Custom Order Development” to meet or exceed the customer requirements while providing top quality end product at the highest levels of customer service. The incumbent will have a strong understanding of core product design and its limitations while fully understanding the manufacturing constraints to meet the expected level of service. Drive continuous improvement culture through training, coordination and implementation of principles of Lean/Six Sigma in day-to-day operations

2. Lead through hands-on application of Lean tools to eliminate waste and execute high-impact process improvement projects in addition to mentoring and facilitation of Green Belt projects.

3. The position is primarily responsible for executing the on-time delivery of customer orders at the highest quality. The incumbent works with manufacturing, marketing, sales, supply chain and engineering to understand the key customer requirements and transform the design to meet those requirements. Utilizes design for manufacturing techniques to simplify the assembly process and minimize the cost of providing the specified customer enhancements. The incumbent will support the design and develop products that comply with regulatory requirements. The incumbent will be responsible for the release complete Bills of Material (BOMs) and engineering models including engineering literature and specification document. The leader will drive White Glove Projects championing processes to ensure the highest quality service to an internal and external customer. The incumbent will manage the project schedule and metrics to drive overall productivity of the department using process improvement and key performance indicators. Analyze current situation (As-is), identify improvement opportunities and recommend measures (To-be) to re-engineer processes

4. Act as a Change Agent and work closely with Operation, Transition, Training to optimize Quality, Efficiency, Cost and Customer Value.

5. Communicate and collaborate with internal stakeholders and customers to understand their pain areas-working to apply their insights to challenge and modify current approaches/ways of doing things.

6. Work closely with Operation teams to obtain the input of diverse views, facilitate the generation of ideas, analyze operational risks (FME) and work across traditional functional boundaries to mitigate risks and establish common goals to deliver value to the business.

• Ensure the safety of all personnel within the department

• Ensure on-time delivery of customer commitments without compromising the quality of products

• Lead the resource allocation and scheduling process

• Maintain and distribute project schedule, including assignment of engineering personnel, priority, and time frame

• Interacts with suppliers to ensure clarity of specification on purchase components for on-time delivery

• Promote clear communication between the cross-functional and engineering staff in the areas of project progress.

• Approve design changes and product specifications through established PLM processes

• Thoroughly communicate and document case performance, operational parameters and critical design features.

• Support the release complete BOMs, CAD models and Technical spec to manufacturing and supply chain.

• Improve the overall productivity of the department through analysis of KPIs.

• Black Belt preferable with 7-10 years of work experience

• Ability to create support and buy-in across a wide range of stakeholders and create a strong network of relationships among peers, internal partners, customers and decision-makers

• Strong verbal and written communication and presentation skills

• Good knowledge and experience in Six Sigma and Lean tools

• Excellent command in Lean/Six Sigma methodology

• Must have advanced hands-on experience with Excel

• Must have hands-on experience in project management tools

• Must have excellent analytical, presentation & communication skills

• Must have high energy levels and the ability to influence stakeholders

• Should be a self-starter

Qualifications and Education Requirements Required Level: Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering

Preferred level: Master’s Degree

MINIMUM YEARS OF EXPERIENCE NECESSARY: 5 - 10

Preferred Skills Technical competence of major products or systems. Knowledge extends beyond usual discipline. Incorporates new technologies into test design applications. Serves as a technical resource to others.

Train and coach engineering personnel in leading product development tools and techniques to increase the speed of development

Recommend enhancements to products based on new technologies or new effective ways of testing our products. Suggest modifications to analysis tools to improve efficiency.

Drive continuous improvement culture through training, coordination and implementation of principles of Lean/Six Sigma in day-to-day operations

Propose technical innovations that lead to new product development techniques and or features or concepts not yet applied to display equipment.

Act as a Change Agent and work closely with Operation, Transition, Training and Clients to optimize Quality, Efficiency, Cost and Customer Value in multiple client engagements

Proven leadership skills in promoting ideas pertaining to innovations in engineering design or product manufacturability. Actively participates in technical direction on projects. Responsible for results.

Frequent contact with all levels of Hussmann, vendors, and internal customers. Requires excellent interpersonal skills and communications. Ability to mentor and train direct reports.

Determine manpower allocation for each project. Make decisions in a timely manner to meet development objectives.

Evaluate the engineer’s performance and conduct performance planning/evaluation and salary reviews.

Serves as a technical resource to others.
