Responsibilities
Canyon Ridge Hospital is a freestanding behavioral health facility in Chino, CA offering a complete spectrum of mental health services for adolescents, adults and seniors. We have been serving the community since 1989, and our comprehensive programming spans inpatient, outpatient, telehealth, and partial hospitalization.

This position is responsible for accurate and timely follow up of all insurance claims.

• 
  
• Assist patients with financial arrangements and refers to Business Office Manager (BOM) for approval.
  
• Reviews patient's charts for accuracy and verifies that all insurance and billing information is complete and correct.
  
• Responds to written, telephone, or in-person payments, errors in adjustments, and other patient account problems.
  
• Prepares and sends patient statements as necessary.
  
• Billing (re-billing when necessary) is done within one business day of bill generation. Reviews bills for errors before sending.
  
• All activity on patient account is documented in "COLLECTION" screen.
  
• Administrative policy discounts are identified and submitted for approval on a timely basis.
  
• Is responsible for performing audits of accounts necessary to process refunds.
  
• Identifies potential payer issues/concerns and suggests resolutions with the BOM.
  
• Handles incoming calls from patients and insurance companies and tries to resolve calls before taking a message or transferring.
  
• Has working knowledge of fundamental tasks of insurance verification/collections.

    Qualifications
    High School education or equivalent experience / education with a minimum of two years' experience in hospital billing or equivalent relevant experience and / or education. Must have strong verbal and written communication skills, experience with electronic billing, thorough knowledge of computer applications, strong customer service skills, ability to concentrate on task in high traffic area, maintain information as highly confidential, strong organization and priority setting skills, meet deadlines, attention to detail, empathy
