Responsibilities
Position Title: Charge Nurse- Supervisor (PM) Department: Nursing
Services Reports To: CNO, Nursing House Supervisor, Director,
Nursing/Clinical Services Supervises: Unit Nursing Personnel
assigned to shift (LVN, PT, MHW, CNA, and Medical Assistants)
Summary Responsible for delivery of quality general and psychiatric
nursing care to children, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics with
emotional or psychiatric disorders; serve actively and
constructively as a member of the multi-disciplinary treatment
team, supporting the organization and program philosophy of care;
to ensure the safety and well-being of each patient. General
Responsibilities Adheres to hospital policies and procedures
regarding absenteeism and attendance, clocks in and out as
scheduled, and follows time clock procedures.Follows the hospital
meal and rest break policy and ensures any direct reports are
allowed time for meal and rest breaks (if applicable).Maintains and
follows hospital/department dress code policy and represents the
hospital in a professional manner at all times.Is willing to assume
additional responsibilities as assigned.Maintains confidentiality
of former and current patient information in accordance with HIPAA
standards.Respects and safeguards the confidentiality and privacy
of Hospital and co-worker information.Understands and complies with
the intent of the Compliance Program.Maintains proper boundaries
when interacting with patients and their families, visitors,
professional staff, vendors, and co-workers. Seeks clarification
from supervisor or Human Resources when necessary.Adheres to and
supports the Employee Drug Screening Policy.Demonstrates fiscal
responsibility by effectively utilizing resources in a cost
efficient manner.Conduct on and off site reflects favorably on
Canyon Ridge Hospital.Has the knowledge of growth and development
for patients of all ages. Demonstrates an understanding of the
psychological needs of these groups and basic interventions used
for different age groups as evidenced by the attached Age Specific
PHYSICAL, MENTAL, AND SPECIAL DEMANDSReaching: Extending hand(s)
and arm(s) in any direction.Walking: Moving about on foot to
accomplish tasks, particularly for long distances.Fingering:
Picking, pinching, typing or otherwise working, primarily with
fingers rather than with the whole hand or arm as in
handling.Grasping: Applying pressure to an object with the fingers
and palm.Talking: Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the
spoken word. Those activities in which they must convey detailed or
important spoken instructions to other workers accurately, loudly,
or quickly.Hearing: Perceiving the nature of sounds with no less
than a 40db loss @ Hz, 1,000 Hz and 2,000 Hz with or without
correction. Ability to receive detailed information through oral
communication, and to make fin discriminations in sound, such as
when making fine adjustments on machined parts.Repetitive motions:
Substantial movements (motions) of the wrist, hands, and/or
fingers.Non-Sedentary Work: Exerting up to 100 pounds of force
occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or
constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects,
including the human body. May be exposed to second hand smoke as a
result of patients smoking. Ability to exercise self-control in
potentially volatile situations such as being verbally or
physically confronted in a threatening or aggressive manner; must
be able to work and concentrate amidst distractions such as noise,
conversation and foot traffic; ability to handle interruptions
often and be able to move from one task to another; must be
flexible and not easily frustrated in dealing with differences of
opinions.
Qualifications
Position Requirements: Possesses current RN's license issued by the
State of California; demonstrates sound leadership skills and
utilizes these skills in organizing the activities and schedules
for medical and/or non-medical tasks of the patient for a given
shift; record of consistently high quality of clinical and
interpersonal skills to be an exemplary role model to others;
displays basic knowledge of treatment procedures; interventions
common to acute psychotic as well as to non-violent crises
intervention practice; basic knowledge of abnormal psychology as
typically found in the psychiatric patient population; application
of this knowledge to nursing care; basic knowledge of medical
terminology especially those terms associated with psychiatric
care; thorough familiarity of psycho pharmacy and the use of
psychotropic medications; basic teaching and training skills
helpful; problem-solving; organizational and time management;
crisis intervention skills; written and oral communication skills;
skills in facilitating and/or co-facilitating process orientated
and didactic groups; must have current CPR certification (American
Heart Association only) and eligible for PMAB certification; skills
in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships in
a variety of clinical and support team members; empathy for
patients and their families; flexibility regarding hours and
schedule worked; skills in maintaining information as highly
