Field Operations Manager

Compensation: $55 - 65K/yr

Job Summary

At School Portraits by Adams Photography we are in the people business! Relationships between our team and our customers are the driving force behind what we do every day. Since 2003 we have been providing memorable picture day experiences to schools throughout Southern California. We deliver full in-house service to hundreds of schools from the moment our fun and friendly Photographers capture that perfect smile, to the moment our production experts ship out customized products from our own production lab.

Under the direction of the Operations Manager, the Field Operations Manager will play a crucial role in executing memorable picture day events. Using proven leadership experience this role will motivate, lead, recruit and train teams of seasonal photography employees. This role exists to achieve results through their team ensuring the appropriate allocation of resources for each picture day event and ensuring their team delivers our company brand and promise.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities

  • Greet and build rapport with company employees, students, teachers and school administrators, coaching seasonal photography team to do the same.
  • In collaboration with Human Resources, recruit, interview, hire, train and supervise seasonal photography employees delivering quality Picture Day experiences to the clients' and Company's expectation and satisfaction.
  • Engage and motivate seasonal photography team, driving a fun and rewarding results driven culture.
  • Consistently increase seasonal employee retention numbers each season using employee engagement practices.
  • Review, approve and ensure the accuracy of direct report time cards on a bi-weekly basis.
  • Ensure direct report's compliance with company CPP policy and procedures.
  • Perform reviews and disciplinary action as needed.
  • Through effective coaching and reporting, consistently ensure initial and on-the-job training is delivered effectively and promptly.
  • Ensure all photography equipment is on hand and in working order to be able to carry out all photography operations.
  • Maintain a cost-effective supply of spare parts for photography equipment.
  • Ensure regular maintenance and prompt repairs to photography equipment.
  • Ensure company vehicles are maintained in a safe and serviceable condition, adhering to the manufacturer's schedule.
  • Ensure any vehicle repairs are carried out promptly.
  • In collaboration with the Account Manager and other key stakeholders, produce and maintain a weekly photography schedule.
  • Keep accurate records of training requirements and training delivered, equipment repairs, vehicle maintenance and other key metrics as required.
  • Regularly report on key metrics as directed.
  • Regular timely attendance
  • Maintain a working knowledge of company policy and procedure, ensuring a transfer of knowledge to appropriate employees.
  • Other duties as assigned.
    Required Skills/Abilities:
    • Ability to work autonomously and delegate effectively
    • Ability to coordinate and run multiple simultaneous events
    • Ability to achieve results through a team
    • Ability to work flexible hours
    • Valid Driver's License, clean DMV record
    • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
    • Demonstrable ability to provide practical solutions to problems.
      Education and Experience:
      • 4 years' experience:
        • Hiring and managing field-based seasonal or temporary staff, with a basic knowledge of California labor laws and/or best practices
        • Managing multiple events in multiple locations simultaneously
        • In a hands-on technical (ideally photographic) environment
        • In a deadline driven environment
        • Consistent working knowledge of computer applications including MS Office and experience of MRP and CRM systems
          Education
          • 4-year degree or equivalent relevant experience
