Job Description Maintenance Mechanic Job Description/Special
Requirements: Maintenance Mechanic---s job is to perform work in
the repair and general maintenance of facilities, buildings, and
equipment under general supervision. They execute work within
established procedures and process under both verbal and written
instructions. Maintenance jobs can be subcategorized into a huge
variety of tasks such as Electrical, plumbing, fabrication,
welding, trouble shooting of machinery and repair. This kind of a
job requires specific knowledge and skill for each particular
department. The ideal candidate will have experience in the food
industry, Dairy Industry preferred. Will be required to bend and
lift up to 60 pounds on occasion and will be required to walk and
stand 90% of the scheduled shift. Responsibilities include, but are
not limited to the following: --- Will be required to communicate
with Plant Management for routine maintenance schedules, down time
on repairs, installation and equipment repairs. --- Repair or
replace defective equipment parts using hand tools and power tools,
and teardown and reassemble equipment. --- Perform routine
preventive maintenance to ensure that machines continue to run
smoothly, performing preventive measures for safeguarding the
machinery against any kind of degradation on a regular basis. ---
Assemble, install and/or repair wiring, electrical and electronic
components, piping systems and, machinery, and equipment. ---
Inspect drives, motors, and belts, check fluid levels, replace
filters, and perform other maintenance actions as needed, following
checklists and recording of maintenance work. --- Inspect, operate,
and test machinery and equipment in order to diagnose machine
malfunctions. --- Diagnose mechanical problems and determine how to
correct them, checking blueprints, repair manuals, and parts
catalogs as necessary. --- Dismantle devices to gain access to and
remove defective parts, using hoists, cranes, hand tools, and power
tools. --- Use tools ranging from common hand and power tools, such
as hammers, hoists, saws, drills, and wrenches, to precision
measuring instruments and electrical and electronic testing
devices. --- Adjust functional parts of devices and control
instruments, using hand tools, levels, plumb bobs, and
straightedges. --- Align and balance new equipment after
installation. --- Operate cutting torches and/or welding equipment
to cut or join metal parts. --- Clean and lubricate shafts,
bearings, gears, and other parts of machinery. --- Maintaining
overall cleanliness and proper functioning of the area or tools or
the machinery. --- Paint and repair roofs, windows, doors, floors,
woodwork, plaster, drywall, and other parts of building structures
to make sure building systems operate efficiently, and the physical
condition of buildings does not deteriorate. --- Ability to operate
a forklift --- Sitting, standing for long periods at a time. ---
Walking, bending/stooping, crawling, climbing, perform tasks in
high places such as on a roof or tall ladder --- Crouching,
kneeling. --- Lifting, carrying up to 60 lbs. and pushing, pulling
and dragging and objects such as pumps and machinery weighing up to
100 lbs. --- Repetitive hand and foot motion including twisting and
grasping. --- A maintenance worker may have to tolerate extreme
heat or cold, working outside in all weather conditions including
working outside in inclement weather and working in small, cramped
spaces. --- Mechanical knowledge, which includes knowledge of tools
and materials. --- Knowledge of relevant equipment, policies and
procedures involved in that particular maintenance site. --- Should
follow oral or written instructions. --- Communicate efficiently
and fluently in both written and oral form. --- Ability to
establish and maintain effective and cooperative working
relationships. --- Adherence of SOP, SSOP, GMP, SQF and HACCP
guidelines. --- Other duties as needed. Interactions: The
Maintenance Mechanic reports directly to the Maintenance Supervisor
and Maintenance Manager. Position Backup: Alternate Shift
Maintenance Mechanic Hours worked: The Maintenance Mechanic is an
hourly individual. Hours worked will depend on what work is
required during that week. Generally 40-50 hours would be
sufficient to cover all duties required. Company Description Scott
